SHIP-HOOPS Akoyikoyi School meets Educational Strategic Goal #1: “To improve the quality of instructional services for early childhood and elementary education….”
Akoyikoyi School, located in Penia Village, Weno Island, Chuuk State, is an Experimental Charter-type School. The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) has no legislation authorizing charter schools which – in the United States and Guam – are part of the public school system and receive funds like any other public school, Akoyikoyi School is licensed as a nonpublic school.
All nonpublic schools in Chuuk, except Akoyikoyi School, are church supported and charge tuition. Akoyikoyi School
- does not charge tuition – meaning that even the poorest child can attend our school;
- does not promote a single religion, but embraces all, and;
- does not receive support from a church, but depends on private donations and support.
The Akoyikoyi School is a unique elementary school designed to provide a quality education, delivered by qualified and dedicated teachers, using state-of-the-art technology assisted learning, with community involvement and support. Thank you.
